OH-IO

I received some news from my Mom this past Friday that my grandpa was in the hospital again for a heart attack.  This is his second heart attack in 2 weeks so I decided to make an emergency visit to Ohio to see him and to help out my family and to bring some joy to my mother.  So, Elyse and I set off on her first of many cross country trips.  Good lord...it was a long drive.  I left Tyler at 5 am in arrived in Cincinnati, OH at my brother's house at 9 pm.  Elyse did great but she was tired of sitting as was I.  On day 2 we drove from Cincinnati to Avon Lake which is about 4 hours away.  I was so happy to be "home".
Not only is it stressful with my grandfather and grandmother, it is stressful with the baby.  She got a cold and has been sick and this means that I have gotten no rest.  It is times like this that I really miss having Brad around to help out and be the sounding board for me.
I did get to see my grandpa yesterday at the hospital. He looked older and tired but I guess that is what heart attacks do to you.  It was hard to see him but he kept telling every nurse that came in, "This is my granddaughter."  He sounded really proud of me and it really touched my heart.  He enjoyed seeing the baby as well and said that he thought she was growing up good.  I was happy I got to see him.  This is a picture of Elyse and Grandpa at Christmas time.
I love looking at this picture.  He was so happy to hold her even though she was not having it.
I guess the most important thing to remember is to live life but love your family.  I hope the end does not come soon for him but I have to realize that he did have a great life.  I am sure he will be greatly missed by our family but a multitude of friends and acquaintances.  I love you Grandpa!

Accepted Offer!

Saturday turned out to be a very productive day for me in the real estate world.  I got to meet a new client and show him houses for the first time.  He is a first time home buyer.  He has a very interesting story...he used to play baseball for the Detroit Tigers.  Him and his fiance are looking to find their first home before they get married in July in Jacksonville Texas.  Then I was able to show some clients that I have been working with for awhile.  They found a house in Bullard, TX and we were able to negotiate and have an executed offer by today!  Sometimes things do work out and I am a happy camper.
We celebrated last night by having our first campfire of the year.  Elyse, Brad and I sat by the fire and talked.  Elyse was enthralled by the fire and she sat in her chair with a blanket and had a really great time.
All in all a perfect day!!

Walking

Wow, what a great family oriented weekend. I just love it when I get to spend the whole weekend with Brad and Elyse.  They make my life joyous.  We went to First Monday in Canton today and then to pick out flowers for the beds.  Everyone knows that I don't like to plant flowers or take care of the beds but I do love to pick the flowers out.  Bless my husband for understanding and not thinking that I am too crazy.  When we got home, Elyse took some steps.  That was so exciting.  You can view her walking at this link.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmnB1jt_JF8.  I just love that little girl!

Trying to get my flavor profile right....

I am addicted to Top Chef on Bravo and that is one show that my husband and I enjoy together.  I would love to be that talented but I would hate to work in a restaurant kitchen, so I consider myself and amateur home chef.  One thing they always say on the show is that I am trying to get my flavor profile right...I don't really know what this means but I like how it sounds.
Well last night I cooked an amazing dinner, if I do say so myself.  I started off by sauteing 2 chicken breast in olive oil in a large skillet.  To that I added capers, garlic, pepper, sun dried tomatoes and artichokes.  (This was my first experience cooking with artichokes and I am not sure if I really enjoy the taste or the texture).  I also added fresh basil.
After the chicken was cooked I placed it on a puff pastry and then put some Havarti cheese on top and put it in the oven at 400 degrees for about 20 minutes or until the puff pastry was brown.  I served it with roasted brussel sprouts and topped the Chicken with a homemade Dill Beurr Blanc.  This was also my first time making Beurr Blanc.  I love how it tastes but I might rethink using it again....it is heavy cream and butter mixed with some vinegar essentially and that is not winning any one's skinny award.
However, this recipe was delicious.  We paired it with Red Diamond Cabernet and an exciting episode of American Idol.  Approximate cooking time and prep time was about 45 minutes.

In the Beginning....

Well I have been thinking about doing this for awhile now and I finally decided to take the step and pretend that my life is interesting and people will want to hear what I have to say.  This is a big step to cronicle my life and my families life as well as my career and hobbies.
I hope I can keep up with this and I hope that you enjoy what you are reading.
